Coming from a singer family, Carnie is well-known for her music. To pay tribute to her legendary father, Brain Wilson, and to her mother, who is also from a singer family, Chynna Philips, Carnie co-founded the pop music trio, Wilson Philips, with her sister, Wendy.
Carnie is not only a singer but she is a TV personality as well and has been a host or guest on multiple TV shows. However, this all fame came at a cost. Wilson has everything but time. Her busy schedule, especially after she started Wilson Philips, didn’t allow her much time to take care of herself.
As a result, Wilson has always struggled with her health. Due to heavy pressure and a busy schedule, Carnie’s eating habits got very disturbed. She would eat whatever she could find and didn’t require much time. With these eating habits, she started gaining weight.
Another factor in her weight gain was her doing work from one place and never moving much. Her weight continued to increase and reached an alarming point of 300 pounds! To add insult to injury, she was ridiculed by multiple comedians.
Her fans were worried about her health as well. As this was all going on, Carnie realized that she had to do something. She knew that she had to lose weight or it would become a threat to her mere life. Little did she know that it was going to be an up-and-down journey.

However, she was having none of that. She started changing her diet plan and tried to lose weight. Unfortunately, there was not much change so she decided to go another way. In the year, 1999, Carnie underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost up to 150 pounds.
Carnie called it a “life-saving decision”. The surgery procedure was broadcasted live on the internet. This huge and sudden transformation shocked everyone. Wilson even posed nude for Playboy magazine. This transformation was a kind of fuel for her fame.
She was invited to various shows. Wilson even did a tour. Sadly, this happiness was short-lived. She gained back most of the lost weight. Mostly due to her busy schedule and her not taking care of her diet and exercise. But she didn’t give up.

But Carnie is not one of those who give up too early. She was having none of that. She is a positive person and decided to go for another try.
Undergoing Lap-band Surgery
This time, Wilson decided to undergo lap-band surgery. It is a kind of surgery in which an inflatable silicone device is placed around the top portion of the stomach. In this way, the person undergoing the surgery consumes less food and as result, does not gain much weight.
After the surgery, Wilson succeeded in losing 30 pounds, and this time, she continued to maintain it. This is was a big achievement for her. Now, Carnie carefully chooses what she would like to eat. She has also started adding exercise to her daily routine.

As the Greek philosopher, Aristotle said, “The only way you can avoid people criticizing you is to do nothing”. No matter what you like, what you do, what you think about a certain topic, there is always someone out there on the internet who is going to criticize you.
So, what does that mean? Should we stop doing anything at all? Hell, no! Just as despite being ridiculed by everyone, Wilson continued fighting obesity and in the end succeeded. We should keep fighting as well. We should not give up just because someone thinks that he knows much even though he doesn’t.
