Sam said that they started their weight loss journey after “I met a woman who has completely changed my life. Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone (14 pounds) in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food.”

Amelia Freer is a British nutritionist and healthy eating expert. She has also written various books on the subject. Sam followed her books and recipes and changed their lifestyle. Smith focused equally on eating healthily as well as on exercising.

Sam described their diet plan in simple plan words by saying, “Basically, I stopped eating much”. It was true that Sam cut down their calorie consumption by a huge margin but that wasn’t the whole story. They eliminated gluten, processed sugar, and dairy products from their diet.

In an interview with Today, Smith said, “My relationship to food has just completely changed.” Sam said that abstaining from their favorite food is a struggle for them, “I am always going to be self-conscious. I’m always going to be trying because I love food more than you could imagine. It’s always going to be a struggle for me.”

Smith’s workout plan was quite simple just like their diet plan. They would hit the gym after eating breakfast. Sam would lift weights and does cycling, squats, and cardio workout. They would also run on the treadmill for half an hour.

By losing 50 pounds, Sam has brought a huge change not only in their physique but in their mental health as well. “I’m finally at peace,” they said. Sam’s current weight is around 200 pounds (92 kgs) as compared to their old weight, 250 pounds (113 kgs).

When the interviewer asked how did they gain weight, Sam said, “Whenever I was bullied, I found refuge in the food. Whenever I felt down, food was my comfort. That’s how I fall in love with food and gained weight. My relationship with food is very old.”
