Sam Smith is an English singer and songwriter. They rose to fame after appearing in the Dislocsure’s single, Latch, which ranked at number eleven on the UK Singles Chart.
Smith was then featured on Naughty Boy’s single, La La La. Sam released their debut album, In the Lonely Hour, in 2014.
In Sam’s interview with HuffPost in 2019, they opened up about their struggle with gender identity and body image. Smith said that they were mocked and made fun of because of being gay and overweight. In the same interview, Sam came as a non-binary.
They said that after hiding for years, they couldn’t take this anymore. “I feel just as much a woman as I am a man,” Sam said. They said that it was time to work on their health. Smith embarked on their weight loss journey and succeeded in shedding 50 pounds.

Sam said that they started their weight loss journey after “I met a woman who has completely changed my life. Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone (14 pounds) in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food.”
They added, “Everyone, go check out her incredible book, and start to live healthily. It’s not even about weight loss it’s about feeling happy in yourself. Love you Amelia and thank you for making me feel so happy inside and out.”
Amelia Freer is a British nutritionist and healthy eating expert. She has also written various books on the subject. Sam followed her books and recipes and changed their lifestyle. Smith focused equally on eating healthily as well as on exercising.
Sam Smith’s Diet Plan
Sam described their diet plan in simple plan words by saying, “Basically, I stopped eating much”. It was true that Sam cut down their calorie consumption by a huge margin but that wasn’t the whole story. They eliminated gluten, processed sugar, and dairy products from their diet.
In an interview with Today, Smith said, “My relationship to food has just completely changed.” Sam said that abstaining from their favorite food is a struggle for them, “I am always going to be self-conscious. I’m always going to be trying because I love food more than you could imagine. It’s always going to be a struggle for me.”
Sam Smith’s Workout Plan
Smith’s workout plan was quite simple just like their diet plan. They would hit the gym after eating breakfast. Sam lifts weights and does cycling, squats, and cardio workouts. They would also run on the treadmill for half an hour.
Along with visiting the gym every day, Sam also started hiking, which contributed a lot to their slim and healthy figure. After seeing such positive results, Smith continued to follow the diet and workout plan and they still do.

When the interviewer asked how did they gain weight, Sam said, “Whenever I was bullied, I found refuge in the food. Whenever I felt down, food was my comfort. That’s how I fall in love with food and gained weight. My relationship with food is very old.”
