Kerridge is an English chef. He is not only a chef he is a Michelin-starred chef. Being a Michelin-starred chef is the highest honor in the culinary world.
But Tom didn’t always want to be a chef. When he was a child, he had a dream of working in films. Tom even appeared in a few TV parts as a child actor.
However, along the way, he realized that he wanted to be a chef and after this realization, Tom attended culinary school. Now, cooking is rather a tricky job and Kerridge fell for that trick.
Weight Loss Journey
Just imagine being around the most delicious dishes such as steak, roast beef, pizza, peanut butter chicken curry, chocolate brownie tart, and Yorkshire pudding.
Isn’t the mere thought mouth-watering? So, chefs are humans too just like us and they also love delicious food.
And that’s how Kerridge fell in love with food and built the habit of binge eating. This proved to be a very dangerous habit.
He started gaining weight quickly and reached 190 kgs (418 pounds). Yes, you read it right.
Slowly and gradually Tom’s weight started slowing him down. He was advised by his doctor that if he didn’t choose to lose weight, he might have to face diabetes.
After hearing this news, Kerridge decided to get rid of this unhealthy lifestyle and get back on the healthy track.

How did Kerridge Lose Weight?
Although there were a lot of health-related concerns as well, the main reason behind Tom’s losing weight was his desire to see his son grow up.
After being diagnosed as obese, Kerridge started seeing a lot of problems in the near future. “I want to see my son grow up. I want to be there for him,” he said.
After consulting with his doctor, Tom embarked on the weight loss journey and lost 12 stone (76 kg).
So, how did this huge transformation take place? Well, it wasn’t easy but it wasn’t impossible either. In front of Tom’s determination, no obstacle hindered his way.
Kerridge lost weight by focusing on his old negative habits. He realized that he was addicted to alcohol and that he didn’t like the mere idea of working out.
He made some big changes to his diet and workout plans and in the end, succeeded in losing weight.

Tom’s Diet Plan
First and the foremost thing that Kerridge did to his diet was that he avoid alcohol consumption.
This made a huge impact on him. Before he felt lazy after drinking and didn’t want to move, now he felt strange energy inside him.
Talking about his struggle, the English chef said, “I knew what I wanted to do and then I got on with it. It was all about mental strength.
I have an addictive personality. People ask me whether I’m an alcoholic, but I think it could have been anything, it’s just that alcohol was the thing I found. Maybe I am an alcoholic, I don’t know.”
He added, “But I’ve changed. Now I channel all that old drinking energy into work and it’s been very productive.”
Along with giving up alcohol, he also stopped eating food that contained fat or consisted of a lot of calories.
In order to lose weight, Kerridge even built his own diet plan, which he named, The Dopamine Diet.
This diet proved to be very helpful in getting rid of his addiction to food and alcohol.
The Dopamine Diet is based on the idea of increasing levels of the “happy diet” making it easier to stick to a single diet.
“It’s impossible to lose weight and keep the weight off for good if you don’t enjoy what you’re eating,” Tom said,
“The NHS offers really sound advice about how to lose weight so I’ve taken this as the starting point for creating delicious low-calorie dishes people will want to eat every day.”

Kerridge also did some physical activities in order to burn calories. He joined the gym where he lifted weights and did cardio workouts.
While the exercise did make a big difference, swimming also played its part in helping Tom lose weight.
All in all, his becoming conscious of what he ate and did throughout the day was the key to success.
And when you follow a healthy diet plan along with working out, losing weight is inevitable.

Kerridge put in a lot of effort by exercising and sticking to the dopamine diet, and it paid off big time! He managed to lose a whopping 76 kgs, bringing his weight down to 114 kgs.
Back in the past, he used to weigh about 190 kgs. That’s a really impressive change!
